Meet Joe

Joe S. is a retired Chemical Engineer from the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality in its Ann Arbor, Michigan facility.  As a senior science advisor, he contributed greatly over his 43 years of service to dramatically reducing air pollution caused by cars, trucks, and other motorized equipment (e.g., construction, lawn/garden equipment, trains, ships, and aircraft.)  He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. In retirement, Joe continues his interest in environmental issues, history, literature, and travel.  He also regularly assists others including former colleagues at EPA through the retirement process.
