What is Socially Responsible Investing (SRI)?

SRI integrates your personal values and societal concerns with your investment decisions. SRI focuses on your financial needs and goals while also carefully considering the impact of your investments on society. Practically speaking, we build a portfolio for you and then screen components of the portfolio to eliminate certain companies or funds based on your values and concerns. After that, we seek replacements looking for companies that embrace sustainable practices, environmental stewardship, racial and gender equity, fair labor practices, human rights, consumer and employee protection, and other factors you would like included.

SRI is a term often used interchangeably with Environmental, Societal, and Governance investing (ESG). Both are popular ways to describe an investment portfolio shaped by a focus on making a positive impact on society following your values-based ideas. SRI screens typically eliminate companies engaged in environmental issues, tobacco products, alcohol, nuclear power, defense, oil, and unfair labor practices. These screens are adjustable and can be customized.

How does SRI work with Traditional Investing?

SRI incorporates your core values into your investments. SRI screens allow you to avoid investing in companies that do not align with your core values and replace them with those that do. We’ll work with you to find high-value companies that share your stance on societal issues and build them into your portfolio.

We offer SRI to help you support companies that reflect your environmental, economic, and societal goals. We work to optimize your portfolio’s performance to be competitive while staying aligned with your beliefs. And by investing in companies that share your world view, your investments can be an active part of a brighter future for our society. Balancing risk and opportunity does not mean sacrificing what you believe in.
